Snake Island Wins A Feisty Affair With The Rivermen


The Six Nations Rivermen (0-1) faced the Snake Island Muskies (1-0) for a round robin game on day one of the President's Cup. 

The goaltending match-up had Elan Henhawk in net for the Rivermen facing Nick Damude in net for the Muskies.

A game that showcased special teams throughout.  Snake Island was able to capitalize continously on the power-play as well as adding a couple of shorthanded goals.  Skkyler Thomas (4g,0a), Joey Spallina (2g,3a), Ryan Lanchbury (2g,1a), and Fred Hartley (2g,0a) led the way for the Muskies.

For Six Nations David Anderson led the way with six goals, with Thunder Hill, Greg Elijah-Brown, and Davin Bomberry added singles.

Snake Island wins 12-9.

To The Game:

The Muskies got on the board first shorthanded with a blast from the outside from Joey Spallina unassisted at 4:52, but the Rivermen answered back immediately with David Anderson scoring on the power-play off a Davin Bomberry pass 0:29 seconds later.

Thunder Hill gave Six Nations their first lead with a beautiful shot from in close off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass on the power-play at 7:56, but Skkyler Thomas dove from behind the net off an Austin Lamoureux pass at 10:07.

The Rivermen took the lead once more when David Anderson scored on the power-play off a Danton Miller pass at 11:03, but an outside laser from Vaughn Harris tied the game once again at 13:10.

Fred Hartley put Snake Island in the lead once again with a high to low snap shot from in close off a Stephen Keogh pass at 14:06, followed by Joey Spallina with a blast off a Jake Rice pass at 14:25.

Skkyler Thomas added to the Muskies lead on the power-play off a Joey Spallina feed at 16:29, followed by Jakson Raposo scoring shorthanded going in all alone at 18:52.

After one period, Snake Island 7 Six Nations 3.

Second Period:

The Muskies increased their lead shorthanded when Fred Hartley beat Elan Henhawk to the glove side off a Matt Acchione pass at 1:27, but the Rivermen replied with a pair of goals.

David Anderson blasted a shot from the outside off a Tyler Brown pass at 4:41, followed by Davin Bomberry with a shot from the top of the crease in traffic off a Danton Miller feed at 4:57.

Snake Island got back on track on the power-play when Skkyler Thomas hit a low to low rocket off a Landon Sinfield pass at 7:57, followed by Ryan Lanchbury from Joey Spallina at 9:04.

David Anderson got Six Nations rolling again firing a high to high shot off a Tyson Bomberry pass at 18:24.

After two periods, Snake Island 10 Six Nations 6.

Third Period:

Ryan Lanchbury continued the offensive prowess for Snake Island scoring off a Vaughn Harris pass at 2:57, followed by Skkyler Thomas blasting a Stephen Keogh pass from in close at 4:39

Six Nations answered back with Greg Elijah-Brown finishing a Tyler Brown pass at 6:06, followed by David Anderson with an absolute howitzer to the top corner off a Tyler Brown pass at 10:35.  Anderson then added another goal with a sidearm snipe to the corner off a Danton Miller pass at 17:29.

Final score, Snake Island 12 Six Nations 9.
