Liam Vollans made his first season in Ontario Series Lacrosse one to remember. The Ennismore James Gang forward earned the league’s 2026 Rookie of the Year award, adding another accomplishment to a developing career that includes college field lacrosse and opportunities with the Peterborough Lakers in Major Series Lacrosse.

For Ennismore, Vollans provided an important offensive presence. His ability to finish scoring opportunities helped him make an immediate contribution against senior competition.

Early Years

A native of Peterborough, Vollans’ development has included both Canadian box lacrosse and American field lacrosse.

He attended Christchurch School in Virginia, earning Second Team All-State recognition in 2024 before moving on to Newberry College in South Carolina. His college roster identifies him as an accounting major, with experience at attack and midfield.

His box lacrosse pathway included appearances with Peterborough’s Junior A and Junior C teams, the Newmarket Saints at Junior B and the Calgary Mountaineers at Junior A. That experience gave him opportunities to develop in different programs before entering the senior game.

Climbing The Ladder

Vollans contributed to Peterborough’s 2024 Meredith Cup championship team. His GameSheet record shows a productive finish to that Junior C championship run, including six points in Game 2 of the final against Fergus and another four in the deciding victory.

He continued his junior development with Calgary in 2025, recording seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points in 10 regular-season appearances. Those totals showed his ability to contribute as a distributor as well as a scorer.

Making His Mark In The OSL

Vollans stepped into the Ennismore lineup in 2026 and produced 26 goals and 14 assists for 40 points in 10 regular-season games. He led the James Gang in both goals and points, averaging four points per appearance. His season earned him the OSL Rookie of the Year award.

One example of his impact came against Hamilton in June. Vollans opened the scoring less than a minute into the game, added another goal during Ennismore’s strong first period and completed his hat trick in the second. His offence helped establish the lead in a James Gang victory.

He also contributed during Ennismore’s playoff series against the Bengals, scoring and setting up Mason Tardiff in the second game. Hamilton ultimately advanced, but Vollans continued to help generate offence against a difficult opponent.

Taking The Next Step

Vollans’ summer also included an opportunity to compete with the Peterborough Lakers in MSL.

Called up from Ennismore, he scored his first MSL goal against Oakville on June 1, 2026. He added a second late in the game, finishing with two goals in Peterborough’s 11–9 loss.

For a young player gaining senior experience, contributing immediately at the next level was a meaningful step.

His field lacrosse career has brought recognition as well. Vollans earned the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year award at Newberry in 2025. The college subsequently announced his selection as a USILA Second Team All-American midfielder in May 2026.

Beyond The Floor

At Newberry, Vollans combines his lacrosse commitments with studies in accounting. His pathway has taken him from Peterborough to school in Virginia and college in South Carolina, while his summers have included box lacrosse in Ontario and Alberta.

That combination of education and competition is another part of the story behind Ennismore’s award-winning rookie.
