Jordan Caskenette’s lacrosse journey has included a Minto Cup championship, NCAA competition and selection in the National Lacrosse League draft. With the Owen Sound NorthStars, he has brought that experience back to his hometown, contributing as both a scorer and a playmaker.

His OSL highlights include scoring an overtime winner against Collingwood and, in another meeting, setting up the goal that decided a playoff opener. Those moments reflect the different ways Caskenette can help finish a close game.

Early Years

An Owen Sound native, Caskenette attended Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute, where he played under coach Bruce Codd.

His junior box development began with the NorthStars. Across five Junior B regular seasons from 2013 through 2017, he accumulated 103 goals and 152 assists for 255 points in 77 games. His final season at that level produced 33 goals and 56 assists for 89 points in 20 appearances.

Those totals showed the balance in his offensive game. Caskenette could finish opportunities himself, while his passing helped create chances for teammates.

Climbing The Ladder

Caskenette progressed to Junior A with the Orangeville Northmen, becoming part of their 2019 Minto Cup championship team.

That fall, the Toronto Rock selected him in the sixth round, 86th overall, in the NLL Entry Draft. The selection added professional recognition to a summer that had already brought a Canadian junior championship.

His education took him to Fanshawe College for two years before he continued at Davenport University in Michigan, studying sport management and playing NCAA Division II lacrosse.

College Success

At Davenport, Caskenette became an important part of the Panthers’ attack.

During the shortened 2020 season, he started all six games and recorded 11 goals and five assists. In 2021, he started all nine contests, tied for the team lead with 14 goals and led Davenport with 21 points. He also earned Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic recognition.

His production increased in 2022. Caskenette led the Panthers with 31 goals and 17 assists for 48 points in 13 games, adding 25 ground balls and six caused turnovers.

One standout outing came against Quincy, when he scored four goals and added three assists in a 14–5 victory. The seven-point performance demonstrated the scoring and distribution he could provide within the same game.

Making His Mark In The OSL

Returning to represent Owen Sound gave Caskenette an opportunity to contribute to his hometown’s senior program.
One memorable finish came against Collingwood in Meaford. With the teams tied 5–5 after regulation, Caskenette converted a Brody Caskenette pass at 7:43 of overtime, giving the NorthStars a 6–5 victory. After a tightly contested game and an extended overtime battle, he supplied the deciding shot.

His playmaking was equally important in the 2026 playoff opener against the Cruise.

Owen Sound had rallied from a 6–2 deficit, but Collingwood regained a one-goal lead in the third period. Caskenette then set up Cam Sanderson for the equalizer, helping send the game to overtime.

Just 52 seconds into the extra period, the pair connected again. Sanderson quick-sticked Caskenette’s feed into the top corner to complete an 8–7 NorthStars victory and give Owen Sound the opening game of the series.

The two finishes illustrate his offensive value: Caskenette can take the deciding shot or deliver the pass that creates it.

NLL And Arena Lacrosse League Recognition

Caskenette’s 2019 selection by Toronto followed his Minto Cup-winning summer with Orangeville. The Rock used their final pick, 86th overall, to bring him into the organization’s draft class.

He was also selected by the Oshawa Outlaws in the fifth round of the 2019 Arena Lacrosse League draft, earning another opportunity within senior indoor lacrosse.

Beyond The Floor

Caskenette’s college accomplishments included academic recognition alongside his offensive production. His sport management studies at Davenport followed two years at Fanshawe, adding an educational dimension to his lacrosse pathway.

His athletic background also includes junior hockey with the Kincardine Bulldogs. Local coverage noted his departure from the team to pursue his NCAA lacrosse opportunity—an important step in his transition to college competition.

Gary Groob’s Take

What stands out about Jordan Caskenette is the balance between scoring and playmaking. His background includes productive seasons in junior and college lacrosse, but his contributions in close games give NorthStars fans something more to appreciate.

Scoring an overtime winner is one way to make an impact. Setting up both the equalizer and the overtime goal in a playoff comeback is another.

For Owen Sound, Caskenette brings championship experience and a connection to the community he represents. His career is another example of the accomplished talent competing in the OSL.
