Saris Powers Rivermen Past Rockyview in Day Three Presidents Cup Action

The Six Nations Rivermen (2-1) took on the RockyviewKnights (1-2) in day three action of the Presidents Cup at the Silent Ice Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. 

The goaltending match-up had Cam Dunkerley in net for the Rivermen facing Carson Wells in net for the Knights. 

Braedon Saris scored four times as the Six Nations Rivermen defeated the Rockyview Knights 11-4 in Day 3 action at the Presidents Cup in Edmonton. Six Nations led 2-1 after the opening period before striking four times in the second—including three power-play goals—to carry a 6-2 advantage into the third.

Marshall Powless scored twice in the final period, while Mitch VanEvery added his second of the game and Jackson Webster and Anahalihs Doxtator rounded out the scoring. Saris was named Six Nations’ Player of the Game, while Blake Kleisinger earned the honour for Rockyview.

To The Game:

The Rivermen opened the scoring at 3:54 when Mitch VanEvery fired an outside blast off an Anahalihs Doxtator pass. Braedon Saris doubled the lead at 17:22, burying a high-to-low shot off a Jackson Webster feed.

Blake Kleisinger cut the deficit in half at 19:57, scoring unassisted with an outside blast in transition.

After one period, Six Nations 2, Rockyview 1.

Shots on goal favored the Rivermen 21–9.

Second Period:

Six Nations opened the second-period scoring just 35 seconds in when David Anderson converted a quick-stick finish off a Braedon Saris feed on the power play. Saris followed with another power-play marker, finishing a Marshall Powless feed at 1:56, before completing the hat trick with an outside howitzer off another Powless pass at 7:22.

Nolan Oakley answered for the Knights, scoring from in close off an Elias Cross feed at 16:11. However, Saris restored the Rivermen’s four-goal advantage with his fourth of the game, blasting a shot from the restraining line off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass on the power play at 18:06.

After two periods, Six Nations 6, Rockyview 2.

Shots on goal favored the Rivermen, 20-16.

Third Period:

Six Nations once again capitalized on the power play, with Marshall Powless converting a Braedon Saris pass just 57 seconds into the period.

Nolan Oakley got the Knights back on the board with a blast off a Sebastian Simonson pass at 1:53, but Powless answered quickly with a sidearm snipe off a Jackson Webster feed at 3:17.

Mitch VanEvery added to the Rivermen’s lead with a shot from in close off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass at 16:04. Webster followed with a low laser off another Elijah-Brown feed at 16:52.

In the final moments, Mac Southgate replaced Carson Wells in the Knights’ net, while Elan Henhawk took over for Cam Dunkerley in the Rivermen’s cage.

Lukas Olsson added another for Rockyview with a low-to-low shot off a Nathan Lam pass at 18:51, but Anahalihs Doxtator answered with a high-to-high shot that found the top corner off a Jacob Crans feed at 19:24.

Final score: Six Nations 11, Rockyview 4.

Shots on goal favored the Knights 19–12 in the third period, with the Rivermen holding a 53–44 advantage overall.
