The Six Nations Rivermen (3-1) faced the Ladner Pioneers (1-3) in a Quarter-Final match-up for the President's Cup Wednesday morning. The goaltending match-up had Tye Belanger in net for the Rivermen facing Alex Buque in net for the Pioneers. Ladner got off to a quick start jumping out 2-0, but four unanswered goals had the Rivermen in the lead at the break. Special teams played a big role in the frame with the teams going a combined 3 for 3 (Ladner 1 for 1, Rivermen 2 for 2) with the man advantage. More special teams magic from Six Nations in the second period. The Rivermen scored four power-play goals, also adding a shorthanded marker in the frame to take a 9-3 lead. After going scoreless for 31:34, Ladner finally ended their scoring drought with a shorthanded goal late in the period. The Pioneers started getting their offense in gear with three of goals in the first half of the third period to try and get back in the game. The game was already nasty with a parade to the penalty box all game, and the last half of the third period was no exception. Both teams were taking penalties throughout, allowing special teams to settle this affair.The Six Nations Rivermen advance to the semi-finals with an 11-6 victory over the Ladner Pioneers. To The Game:The Pioneers got off to a quick start on the power-play with Dylan Lacroix converting a Spencer Bromley pass at 1:24, followed by Jared Moloci with a low to low blast off a Bromley feed as well at 4:35.The Rivermen got rolling on the power-play when Danton Miller hit the top corner off a Davin Bomberry pass at 7:33, followed by Zach Herreweyers with a beautiful shovel shot all alone in front off a Danton Miller pass at 10:13. Jordan Goddard then blasted a sidearm snipe from the outside off a David Anderson pass on the power-play at 14:19, followed by Tyler Brown with a screenshot off a Thunder Hill pass at 18:26.After one period, Six Nations 4 Ladner 2.Second Period:Six Nations got back on the board on a two man advantage when David Anderson found Zach Herreweyers with a cross crease pass at 6:12, followed by Anderson himself with a sidearm snipe from the outside off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass on the power-play at 7:33. Zach Herreweyers then scored his third of the game also on the power-play with a sidearm snipe to the top corner off a Tyler Brown pass at 10:48.Spencer Bromley finally got Ladner back on the board shorthanded with a shortside goal off a Mitchell Winter feed at 16:09 to end 31:34 of scoreless play for the Pioneers.Danton Miller then picked the top corner on the same power-play off a Tyler Brown pass at 17:21, followed by Greg Elijah-Brow with a shorthanded marker off a Zach Herreweyers pass from in front at 18:40.After two periods, Six Nations 9 Ladner 3.Third Period:Ladner got rolling quickly when Spencer Bromley scored his second of the game on the power-play off a Laszlo Hennig pass at 2:37, followed by Keegan Kozack with a fake from in front off a Spencer Bromley pass at 4:02.Greg Elijah-Brown got the Rivermen back on track scoring from in front off a Jordan Goddard feed at 4:29, but Coady Adamson hit with a bounced shot off a Laszlo Hennig pass on the power-play at 8:20 to narrow the lead to four.Davin Bomberry scored off a Thunder Hill feed scoring to the shortside at 16:23.Final score, Six Nations 11 Ladner 6.Players of the Game:Ladner - Coady Adamson Six Nations - Aiden Fearn
