Power And Gustavsen Lead North Stars To Opening Night Victory

The Owen Sound North Stars (1-0) visited the Ennismore James Gang (0-1) to open the 2024 Ontario Series Lacrosse season.  

The goaltending match-up had Craig Wende in net for Owen Sound facing Brandon Wilson in net for the James Gang. 

A fairly even game for two periods had the North Stars up 5-3.  The third period saw Owen Sound score four unanswered goals for the 9-3 victory.  

Gordie Power (3g,1a) and Mitch Gustavsen (2g,3a) led the way for the North Stars.   Adam Churchill (2g,0a) and Nick Andreoli (1g,1a) were the scorers for Ennismore. 

To The Game:

The North Stars got rolling quickly with Gordie Power scoring just 0:22 seconds in off an Adam Sargison pass, but Adam Churchill tied the game on the power-play finishing off a Nick Andreoli feed at 4:07.

Power added his second of the game again off a Sargison pass at 10:41, followed by Mitch Gustavsen scoring from in close on the power-play off a Jordan McMillen pass at 12:02.

Adam Churchill's second of the game got the James Gang within one goal heading to the intermission. 

After one period, Owen Sound 3 Ennismore 2.

Second Period:

Nick Andreoli opened the second period scoring tying the game for Ennismore off a Boyd Diclemente pass at 1:58.

Mitch Gustavsen got his second of the night of a Chase Echlin feed at 2:15, followed by Echlin himself in transition off a long lead pass from Craig Wende at 13:19.

After two periods, Owen Sound 5 Ennismore 3.

Third Period:

The third period had Owen Sound take control of the play.  Adam Sargison opened the scoring converting a Mitch Gustavsen pass at 4:22, followed by Brayden Kreuger adding another tally unassisted at 9:50.

Jordan Caskenette blasted a Mitch Gustavsen feed at 13:22, followed by Gordie Power with his third of the night off an Adam Sargison pass at 14:14.

Final score, Owen Sound 9 Ennismore 3.
