Osborne, Tucker And McNutt Lead An Explosive Merchants Offense To Victory


The Brooklin Merchants (7-1) traveled east to face the Ennismore James Gang (1-6) at the Lakefield Arena on Tuesday night. 

The goaltending match-up had Deacan Knott in net for the Merchants facing Riley Finn in net for the James Gang. 

In a game where Brooklin fired 75 shots at Ennismore, they came away with a 15-6 victory.  Liam Osborne led the way with four goals, while Colton McNutt and Cole Tucker were close behind with three of their own.  Up 8-5 heading into the third period, Brooklin put it in another gear outscoring the James Gang 7-1 in the period.

Both goalies were stellar in the game with Deacan Knott making 41 saves in the game, while Riley Finn made 60 saves.

To The Game:

After half a period of scoreless action the Brooklin Merchants got on track with a four goal run to set the stage for the game.  Colton McNutt opened the scoring converting a Devon Pipher pass at 10:21, followed by Liam Osborne with an outside blast to the corner off a Parker Pipher pass at 13:49.

Eddie Renaud increased the Merchants lead with a low to low laser off a Ciaron Costello pass at 14:20, followed by McNutt's second of the game off a Devon Pipher pass at 16:31.

Chris Harland got Ennismore on the board in transition off a long lead pass from Riley Finn at 17:49, followed by Frank Coyle converting a Cole Begley pass 0:15 seconds later. 

Colton McNutt got his third of the game off a beautiful set up from Parker Pipher beside the net at 18:30.

After one period, Brooklin 5 Ennismore 2.

Second Period:

Ciaron Costello opened the second period scoring for Brooklin with a low to low shot off a Liam Osborne pass at 6:12, but Michael Blaymires answered with an absolute howitzer to the stick side off a Tommy Collins feed on the power-play at 10:30.

Devon Pipher increased the Brooklin lead, only to be answered by a Tommy Collins power-play goal off an Adam Churchill pass at 14:39.

Once again Brooklin increased their lead with a tally from Liam Osborne off a Liam McCrory pass at 14:49, but Aaron Bradshaw answered for the James Gang to keep this a three goal game. 

After two periods, Brooklin 8 Ennismore 5.

Third Period:

Cole Tucker opened the third period scoring finishing an Eddie Renaud pass at 1:22, followed by Parker Pipher on the power-play with a sweet inside move also off a Renaud pass at 3:41.

Liam Osborne added the next two goals for the Merchants just 0:09 seconds apart, followed by Cole Tucker with a screenshot to the far corner at 9:18.

Devon Pipher added another marker off a Colton McNutt pass at 12:13, followed by a shorthanded tally by Cole Tucker off an Adam Perroni pass at 14:24.

Nick Dilauro got Ennismore on the board with a power-play goal off a Michael Blaymires pass at 18:37, but it wouldn't be enough.

Final score, Brooklin 15 Ennismore 6.

Shots on goal favored Brooklin 75-47.
