NorthStars Edge Rivermen In Thriller

The Six Nations Rivermen (5-1) traveled to face the Owen Sound NorthStars (4-1) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening at the Bayshore Arena in Owen Sound, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Elan Henhawk in net for the Rivermen facing Calum Leaver-Preyra in net for Owen Sound.
Fans were treated to a back-and-forth thriller as the Owen Sound NorthStars edged the Six Nations Rivermen 8-7 in overtime. After Six Nations carried a 2-1 lead into the second period, the NorthStars exploded offensively, scoring four times in the middle frame behind goals from Tyson Morrison, Wyatt Barfoot, Cam Sanderson, and Cohen Jennings to take a two-goal cushion into the third.
The Rivermen refused to go away, opening the final period with three straight goals to regain the lead before Owen Sound answered with clutch goals from Barfoot and Jordan Caskenette. David Peterkin's late marker with under three minutes remaining sent the contest to overtime, where Cohen Jennings played hero, burying the winner on the power-play to cap off an exciting comeback victory for the NorthStars.
To The Game:
The Rivermen got on the board first when Anahalihs Doxtator finished a Will Rowe pass at 1:53, but a Cam Sanderson blast off a Carter Moran feed tied the game at 8:25.
Will Rowe gave Six Nations the lead once more with a low laser off a Conner Costigan pass at 14:06.
After one period, Six Nations 2 Owen Sound 1.
Second Period:
Whatever was said in the NorthStars dressing room lit a fire under them. Tyson Morrison tied the game off a Dawson McKenzie pass at 6:07, followed by Wyatt Barfoot with a great individual effort scoring unassisted at 7:10.
Cam Sanderson added to the Owen Sound lead with a blast off a Barfoot feed on the power-play at 7:10, followed by another power-play marker from Cohen Jennings converting a Jordan Caskenette pass at 15:51.
Jonathan Gagliardi stopped the NorthStars run with a goal in transition off a long lead pass from Elan Henhawk at 16:17.
After two periods, Owen Sound 5 Six Nations 3.
Third Period:
The Rivermen came out on fire in the third. Ryker Powless scored off a Mitch VanEvery pass at 1:01, followed by Tyler Brown with a blast off a Nolan McNeil feed 0:47 seconds later. Brown then finished an Anahalihs Doxtator pass to give the Rivermen the lead at 5:26.
The NorthStars, not to be outdone, came back strong with Wyatt Barfoot scoring shorthanded, unassisted at 10:07, followed by Jordan Caskenette with a power-play marker off a Cohen Jennings pass at 17:04 to regain the lead.
With just 2:46 remaining, David Peterkin finished a Connor Costigan pass from in close sending the game to overtime.

Overtime:
After Connor Costigan took a roughing penalty for the Rivermen, Cohen Jennings was able to blast an outside shot unassisted at 4:16 for the NorthStars victory.
