Multiple Hat-tricks Propel Bengals To Lopsided Victory
The Collingwood Cruise (2-10) visited the Hamilton Bengals (7-5) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Thursday night at the Mountain Arena in Hamilton, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Jackson Hainer in net for Collingwood facing Aden Walsh in net for the Bengals.
A relatively even played first period had Hamilton up with a slight 5-3 lead. Where the game fell apart for the Cruise was in the second period. A crushing eleven goal output from the Bengals put this game out of reach for Collingwood. Add another six goal out in the third and Hamilton came away with the Lopsided 22-5 victory.
Gareth Haigh (4g,3a), Ryan Haigh (3g,1a), Shane Halliwell (3g,3a), Zach Sunderland (3g,8a), and Tye Argent (3g,1a) all had big nights for Hamilton. Collingwood had five individual scorers in the game.
To The Game:
Gareth Haigh got things rolling for Hamilton with an in close shot off a Cole Hanrahan pass at 1:18, followed by Ryan Haigh following it up with one in transition off an Andrew Hoarsely feed at 4:24.
Travis Bland got one back for Collingwood with a low to low shot off a Ben Baker pass just 0:22 seconds later, but Gareth Haigh's second of the game restored the two goal lead at 8:06.
Shane Halliwell increased the Bengals lead with a blast off a Carson Moyer pass at 9:35, but an even strengthed goal from Scott Edwards, followed by a shorthanded goal from Ben Baker had this just a one goal game at 14:36.
Zach Sunderland gave Hamilton a bit of breathing room with a sidearm snipe to the corner off a Jaden Patterson pass at 18:48 to go to the break up by two.
After one period, Hamilton 5 Collingwood 3.
Second Period:
Ryan Haigh got things going for Hamilton in the second period firing a Zach Sunderland pass in at 2:54, followed by Jaden Patterson with an outside blast off a Shane Halliwell pass at 3:30.
Ryan Haigh continued the barrage grabbing the loose ball in transition for an unassisted tally 0:07 seconds later, followed by Zach Sunderland with an outside blast off a Carson Moyer pass at 4:19.
Collingwood replaced Jackson Hainer with Quinton Greenfield in net.
Gareth Haigh welcomed Greenfield to the game with a shot to the corner off a Thomas McDonald pass at 5:35.
Ethan Harwood finally got the Cruise back on the board in transition unassisted at 8:27, but Trevor McDonald replied for the Bengals off an Andrew Vradenburg pass at 10:47.
Shane Halliwell kept the onslaught going with a low to low shot off a Jaden Patterson pass at 11:57, followed by Tye Argent with a laser to the top corner off a Patterson feed as well at 12:45.
Andrew Hoarsely joined the scoring parade with a low blast off a Zach Sunderland pass at 15:20, followed by goals from Nick D'amico and Sunderland again just 0:28 seconds apart.
After two periods, Hamilton 16 Collingwood Cruise 4.
Third Period:
Tye Argent opened the third period scoring with a low to low shot to the corner off a Ryan Haigh pass at 3:36, followed by a Shane Halliwell blast off a Carson Moyer pass at 5:23.
Nick D'amico added to the Bengals total unassisted in transition at 6:52, followed by Tye Argent with a sidearm snipe off a Gareth Haigh pass at 7:39. Haigh then added his fourth of the game with a high to high rocket that caught the corner off a Shane Halliwell pass at 8:32.
Colton McNutt got the Cruise on the board once again off a Chase Forsythe pass at 9:55, but Alec Tamas answered with a bounced shot off an Andrew Vradenburg pass at 11:20.
Final score, Hamilton 22 Collingwood 5.
