Moyer, Terry Power Bengals to Convincing Victory Over Kodiaks


The Belleville Kodiaks (2-7) visited the Hamilton Bengals (3-4) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Sunday afternoon at the Dave Andreychuk Arena in Hamilton, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Gavin Williamson in net for Belleville facing Aden Walsh in net for the Bengals. 

Hamilton built an early lead and never fully relinquished control, defeating Belleville 9-5 Sunday afternoon at the Dave Andreychuk Arena. The Bengals struck quickly in the opening period, getting goals from Eddie Renaud and Nile Cyr before Carson Moyer added a late marker to give the home side a 3-1 advantage after twenty minutes. Belleville battled throughout the contest, with Nolan Rutty opening the scoring for the Kodiaks and the visitors repeatedly finding ways to answer Hamilton's momentum swings.

The game tightened considerably in the second period as Belleville mounted a comeback. After Tye Argent extended the Bengals' lead, the Kodiaks responded with goals from Will White, Jared Downey, and Caleb Connell, pulling within a single goal heading into the third period. Hamilton, however, took over in the final frame. Zach Terry and Carson Moyer led the charge, with Moyer scoring twice on the power play to complete a hat trick and give the Bengals breathing room. Terry added his second goal of the afternoon late in the game as Hamilton pulled away for the 9-5 victory.

To The Game:

The Bengals got rolling early with Eddie Renaud converting a Devyn Mayea pass at 3:30, followed by Nile Cyr with a blast from the outside off a Ben Wittich feed at 5:49.

Nolan Rutty got the Kodiaks on the board on the power-play with a low to low laser off a Seven Gillingham pass at 11:17, but a late goal from Carson Moyer unassisted at 19:05 restored the two goal Hamilton lead.

After one period, Hamilton 3 Belleville 1.

Second Period:

After half a period of end to end action, Tye Argent extended the Bengals lead to three off a Zach Terry pass at 10:47.  

Will White got Belleville back in the game in transition converting a long lead pass from Gavin Williamson at 11:48, but Dawson Brown replied for Hamilton from in close also in transition off an Aden Walsh long lead pass at 14:20.

The Kodiaks pressed near the end of the frame with Jared Downey finding the back of the net on the power-play off a Seven Gillingham pass at 18:46, followed by Caleb Connell scoring off the ensuing faceoff off a Will White feed 8 seconds later.

After two periods, Hamilton 5 Belleville 4.

Third Period:

Hamilton opened the third period scoring with Zach Terry converting a Brendan Campbell pass at 3:59, but Cam Milligan answered back wiith a low bounced shot off a Nolan Rutty feed at 7:43.

Carson Moyer gave the Bengals some breathing room with back to back tallies.  The first came converting a Jaden Patterson pass on the power-play at 11:19, followed by a sidearm blast to the corner off again finishing a Patterson feed on the power-play at 14:56.

Zach Terry's second goal of the day sealed the victory for Hamilton finishing a Carson Moyer pass at 16:45.

Final score, Hamilton 9 Belleville 5.
