Marinier And Pipher Score Four Each In Merchants Victory
The Brooklin Merchants (1-0) traveled west to face the Six Nations Rivermen (0-1) in game one of the Ontario Series Lacrosse finals at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Deacan Knott in net for the Merchants facing Tye Belanger in net for the Rivermen.
A defensive struggle through the first twenty minutes only saw the teams able to capitalize on a combined three goals. Although the Rivermen took an early lead, goals from Alex Marinier and Kellen Pulera gave Brooklin the 2-1 lead after one.
The second period saw the game continue to be a defensive struggle. The Rivermen kept things close until just over six minutes left. Brooklin put together a three goal run at the end of the period to take charge of the game.
The Merchants continued this theme in the third period taking total control of the game, outscoring the Rivermen 5-0 in the frame. Brooklin came away with a decisive 11-3 victory.
To The Game:
Six Nations got on the board first when Thunder Hill blasted an Anahalihs Doxtator pass to the shortside top corner at 8:21, but a power-play goal from Alex Marinier off a Will MacLeod pass at 15:00 minutes tied the game.
Kellen Pulera gave Brooklin the lead with a howitzer from past the restraining line off a Devon Pipher feed at 18:25.

Second Period:
David Anderson tied the game with a laser from the side of the net off a Daylin Burning pass at 3:17, but Alex Marinier regained the lead converting an Adam Perroni pass at 4:04.
Again, the Rivermen tied the game when Thunder Hill wired a shot past Deacan Knott off a Tyson Bomberry pass at 4:51, but Parker Pipher replied with a low to low shot off an Alex Marinier pass at 6:18.
Marinier then increased the lead with a shot from the top of the crease off a Zac Carrigan pass at 11:53, followed by Parker Pipher blasting a Devon Pipher feed at 16:29.

Third Period:
Brooklin took charge of the period with Alex Marinier building on the lead with a blast off a Devon Pipher pass at 4:38, followed by Kellen Pulera with another howitzer from the outside off a Marinier feed at 5:28.
Parker Pipher scored on the power-play with a shot from in close off an Alex Marinier pass at 8:53, followed by another power-play marker from Eddie Renaud off a Will MacLeod pass at 15:37. Parker Pipher added an empty net goal unassisted at 17:12.
