MacLeod With Another Big Game Leads Merchants To Convincing Victory Over North Stars

The Owen Sound North Stars (6-7) traveled east to face the Brooklin Merchants (12-2) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Dante Mancini  in net for the North Stars facing Deacan Knott in goal for the Merchants. 

Brooklin had another dominant showing getting out to a 5-0 lead in the first period, never looking back.  Will MacLeod (5g,1a) had another great day leading the Merchants, with Kellen Pulera (2g,1a), Braedon Saris (1g,2a), and Liam Osborne (1g,2a) also having strong showings.  Brooklin wins handily 11-4.

The North Stars got stronger as the day went on, but the hole was just too deep from the first period. Dawson McKenzie (1g, 2a), Jack Fitzpatrick (1g,1a), Michael Blaymires (g,2a), and Jordan Caskenette (1g,1a) had the goals for Owen Sound.  If there was a bright spot in this game, the North Stars converted three power-plays on the afternoon. 

To The Game:

The Merchants got on the board quickly with Kellen Pulera scoring off a Darryl Robertson pass at 4:36, followed by Will MacLeod blasting an Alex Marinier pass on the power-play at 9:28.

Pulera scored his second of the game off a Liam Osborne pass in transition at 10:37, followed by Will MacLeod finishing a Parker Pipher pass with a quick stick at 12:42.  Braedon Saris then wired a sidearm snipe off an Eddie Renaud pass at 15:43 for a five goal Merchants lead.

Owen Sound finally found the back of the net with Jordan Caskenette firing a low to low shot to the far corner off a Dawson McKenzie pass at 16:16.

After one period, Brooklin 5 Owen Sound 1.

Second Period:

Michael Blaymires got Owen Sound closer with a sidearm rocket off a Dawson McKenzie pass on the power-play at 1:40, but Zac Carrigan answered with a beautiful in-close goal off a Devon Pipher pass at 2:14.

Will MacLeod scored his third of the night off a Braedon Saris pass at 5:30, followed by Liam Osborne converting an Adam Perroni feed at 13:32.  Alex Marinier got on the scoresheet for Brooklin with an absolute howitzer to the top corner off a Zac Carrigan pass on the power-play at 19:03.

After two periods, Brooklin 9 Owen Sound 2.

Third Period:

Dawson McKenzie got Owen Sound on the board on the power-play converting a Michael Blaymires pass at 5:55, but Will MacLeod answered with his fourth and fifth goals back to back.  The first was off a Braedon Saris pass at 8:20, followed by an outside blast off a Liam Osborne swing pass at 12:09.

Jack Fitzpatrick added one more for the North Stars on the power-play unassisted, but it was too little too late. 

Final score, Brooklin 11 Owen Sound 4.
