Crushers and North Stars End In A Tie

The Clearview Crushers (3-4-1) traveled to Owen Sound (2-5-1) to face the North Stars in Ontario Series Lacrosse action on Sunday evening at the Bayshore Community Centre. 

The goaltending match-up had Jackson Hainer in net for Clearview facing Ethan Woods in net for the North Stars. 

A very evenly played game saw it toed on five seperate occasions.   Although Owen Sound took a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, Clearview kept pressing, tying the game midway through the second.  A see-saw battle the rest of the way had this game tied 7-7 after regulation. 

In overtime, the teams traded goals once, but couldn't solve either goaltender again.  The game ended in an 8-8 tie.

To The Game:

Gareth Haigh opened the game's scoring off a Braydon Hickey pass at 1:51 for a Clearview lead, but Jordan Caskenette answered for the North Stars finishing a Brody Caskenette pass on the power-play at 7:53.

Riley Thompson gave Owen Sound the lead wiring a Noah Millsap feed at 15:24, followed by Gordie Power converting a Thompson pass at 16:52.

After one period, Owen Sound 3 Clearview 1.

Second Period:

Gareth Haigh scored his second of the game, bringing the Crushers within one, but Brody Caskenette's second of the game increased the North Stars lead back to two at 5:19.

Clearview scored the next two goals to tie the game.  Haigh's third of the night, followed by Angus Rawding's blast to the far corner evened everything up at 9:12.

Gordie Power grabbed the lead for Owen Sound on the power-play off a Riley Thompson feed at 11:27.

After two periods, Owen Sound 5 Clearview 4.

Third Period:

Cole Hanrahan tied the game at 3:20, but Gordie Power answered immediately converting a Tetsuya Yamada pass 0:27 seconds later.

Gareth Haigh and Koichi Nakamura scored for Clearview to give them a lead at 11:23, but Jordan Caskenette tied the game with just 1:19 left sending it to overtime. 

After regulation, Clearview 7 Owen Sound 7.

Overtime:

After a lot of back and forth action, Gareth Haigh scored at 8:15, but a power-play goal from Jordan McMillen tied the game with just 0:06 seconds left.

Final score, Clearview 8 Owen Sound 8.

Shots on goal favored Owen Sound 47-41.
