Brooklin Stays Undefeated With Character Win

The Ladner Pioneers (1-1) faced the Brooklin Merchants (2-0) in day two action at the President's Cup at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Alex Buque in net for Ladner facing Deacan Knott in net for the Merchants.
While the teams played a very entertaining back and forth first period, Keegan Bell stole the show with three goals for Ladner. While Brooklin kept up for most of the period, Bell scored with 0:45 seconds left to give the Pioneers the lead at the intermission.
The second period had the Merchants come to life with four goals to take the lead in the period. While Ladner kept pressing, Brooklin's defense stood tall. The period definitely got more aggressive as it went along.
The third period again was aggressive, but the defenses from either team stood tall. Jacob Hickey scored for Brooklin on a coast to coast run, but Spencer Bromley kept it close for Ladner. With mere seconds to go, Devon Pipher scored to seal the deal for the Merchants. Brooklin wins 9-7.
To The Game:
The Merchants got on the board first when Parker Pipher converted an Alex Marinier pass at 1:20, but Erik Forsselius tied the game with a blast off a Dylan Lacroix feed at 4:16.
Zac Carrigan gave Brooklin the lead once again shorthanded with a low to low shot off a Kobe Handsor pass at 12:23, but Keegan Bell replied off a Spencer Bromley pass at 17:06.
Ladner took their first lead of the night on the power-play when Keegan Bell blasted a high to low shot to the corner off a Coady Adamson pass at 18:08, but Liam Osborne scored a beauty from in front off a Parker Pipher pass at 18:45 to tie the game.

Second Period:
Alex Marinier tied the game with a low to low laser off a Zac Carrigan pass at 1:08, followed by Will MacLeod with a blast off a Devon Pipher pass on the power-play at 6:04.
The Pioneers tied the game on a high to low shot from Coady Adamson off a Blake Larson pass at 8:13, but late goals from Jayson Crawford and a shorty from Darren Elliott put the Merchants up by two at the break.
After two periods, Brooklin 7 Ladner 5.
Third Period:
Brooklin opened the third period scoring shorthanded with Jacob Hickey picking up a loose ball going coast to coast unassisted at 1:14, but Ladner answered back with a laser to the far side from Keegan Bell off a Spencer Bromley pass on the power-play at 4:12.
Ladner made it interesting late in the game with a power-play marker from Spencer Bromley off a Keegan Bell pass at 17:51, but Devon Pipher answered with 0:08 seconds remaining to seal the deal.
Final score, Brooklin 9 Ladner 7.
