Bengals Tighten Up The Syandings With Victory Over North Stars

The Hamilton Bengals (5-4) visted the Owen Sound North Stars (6-4) in a make-up game from earlier in the year Sunday evening in Ontario Series Lacrosse action at the Durham Arena.

The goaltending match-up had Andrew Kidd in net for the Bengals facing Dante Mancini in net for Owen Sound. 

The Bengals got off to a quick start, never looking back in the game.  Led by Gareth Haigh (3g,1a), Dawson Brown ( 2g,2a), and Shane Halliwell (2g,1a), Hamilton got out to a 5-2 first period lead, finishing with a 9-6 victory.  Rob Harris (2g,1a), and Jake McNabb (1g,2a) led the charge for Owen Sound in the game. 

To The Game:

Gareth Haigh opened the scoring for Hamilton with a blast off a Neil McInroy pass at 0:31 seconds, followed by Dawson Brown with a low to low shot off a Brendan McLeod pass at 1:34.

Rob Harris got Owen Sound on the board with a sidearm snipe off an Ethan Thomson feed at 2:33, followed by Jake McNabb with the tying goal at 7:42.

Hamilton finished the period strong with three goals.  The first was from Shane Halliwell with a quick stick off an Ethan Dobbie pass at 8:46, followed by Gareth Haigh with his second of the period off a Tye Argent pass at 12:19.  Dawson Brown then added his second of the period off a Tye Argent pass at 15:37.

After one period, Hamilton 5 Owen Sound 2.

Second Period:

Jack Fitzpatrick got the North Stars closer with a blast off a Reagan Mcilmoyle pass at 2:19, but Ryan Haigh's transition goal unassisted off the faceoff 0:07 seconds later put Hamilton in control once again.

Gareth Haigh increased the Bengals lead off a Jaden Patterson feed at 12:50, followed by Tye Argent also converting a Jaden Patterson pass at 13:13.

Riley Thompson got Owen Sound back on the board with a high to low shot at 19:06.

After two periods, Hamilton 8 Owen Sound 4.

Third Period:


Wyatt Barfoot opened the third period scoring for the North Stars with a great individual effort unassisted at 4:43, followed by Rob Harris with his second of the night off a Jake McNabb pass at 6:06.

Shane Halliwell stopped the Owen Sound momentum with a bladt off a Jaden Patterson pass at 15:14.

Final score, Hamilton 9 Owen Sound 6.
