A Strong Second Period Lifts Merchants To Victory Over Rivermen

The Brooklin Merchants (0-1) visited the Six Nations Rivermen (2-0) Saturday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario.

The Rivermen were up 3-2 after one period.  However, a second period hat-trick from Will MacLeod, as well as a goal from Zac Carrigan had Brooklin up by two heading into the third period.

The Rivermen pushed hard to begin the third, with Mason Kamminga, and Marcus Elvin scoring 0:33 seconds apart to tie the game.  The defenses stepped up holding each team at bay until Colton McNutt scored at 12:10 to give Brooklin the lead.  Six Nations kept coming but we're denied.  Connor Murphy added an empty net goal with 0:31 seconds left to seal the deal.  Brooklin came away with a hard fought 8-6 victory.
