The Rivermen Earn Berth In The 2024 President's Cup With Late Game Four Victory
Written by Gary Groob - All Lacrosse All The Time
The Six Nations Chiefs traveled east to Whitby, Ontario to face the Brooklin Merchants at the Iroquois Park Sports Complex for game four of the Ontario Series Lacrosse finals.
Six Nations could close out the series with a victory in this game. Game three saw Zach Herrewyers (4g,2a) and Sam LeClair (3g,3a) take over with six points each for the Rivermen. Six Nations got up 7-1 before Brooklin was able to get moving, but it was too deep a hole to get out of.
The goaltending match-up had Drew Hutchison in net for the Rivermen facing Deacan Knott in net for Brooklin.
A game that went back and forth all night didn't have a clear victor until the final two minutes. With Brooklin up 7-6 with under three minutes to go, this series looked like it was heading to a deciding game five.
The Rivermen put together two goals in 0:28 seconds late in the third to dash the hopes of the Merchants, winning 8-7 and winning the Ontario Series Lacrosse 2024 championship.
