Rivermen's Special Teams Very Special In Third Period Comeback
The Six Nations Rivermen (1-0) visited the Owen Sound North Stars (0-1) to open the 2025 Ontario Series Lacrosse season.
The goaltending match-up had Elan Henhawk in net for Six Nations facing Gavin Clarke for the North Stars.
For thirty minutes this game was a punch-counterpunch affair between the two teams, with special teams playing a big part in the game. To The midway point, the Rivermen had two power-play goals, while Owen Sound had three power-play markers. Towards the end of the second, the North Stars got on a three goal run, adding one of each type of goal (shorthanded, power-play, and even strength) for a commanding three goal lead.
In the third period Six Nations came to life led by Tyler Brown with three goals, Tyson Bomberry and Anahalihs Doxtator with a pair each. Special teams was huge in the period with the Rivermen scoring twice on the power-play, but also twice shorthanded. Owen Sound answered with a pair of power-play markers, but it wasn't enough. Six Nations outlasted Owen Sound for an 11-9 victory.
To The Game:
After almost half a period of scoreless action, Jake McNabb scored the first goal of the OSL season giving the North Stars the lead unassisted at 7:05.
Davin Bomberry and Thunder Hill answered for the Rivermen both scoring on the power-play to give Six Nations the lead nearing the end of the period. However, Jordan Caskenette and Jordan McMillen also scored on the power-play for the North Stars to regain the lead in the last couple of minutes.

Second Period:
Just 0:22 seconds into the second period Jake McNabb scored his second of the game, also on the power-play, increasing the Owen Sound lead to two goals.
Davin Bomberry then converted a Brooker Muir feed , followed by Ross Hill finishing a beautiful pass from Tyler Brown at 4:40 to tie the game.
The North Stars took control of the last ten minutes of the period converting three times to take the lead heading to the third. Jordan Caskenette finished a Randy Black pass at 10:25, followed by Jordan McMillen scoring a pair of goals to finish the period. The first was a shorthanded goal off a Wyatt Barfoot pass at 12:05, followed by a power-play goal from in close off a Mike McLeod feed at 18:12.

Third Period:
Tyler Brown got one back for the Rivermen shorthanded off a Marcus Elvin pass at 3:21, but a power-play goal from Jake McNabb restored the Three goal lead at 5:06.
Six Nations then exploded for five goals to change the complexion of the game. Anahalihs Doxtator scored a shorthanded goal with a low to low shot at 5:16, followed by Tyler Brown with his second of the period at 8:18. Brown then added a power-play goal off a Thunder Hill pass at 11:21, followed by Tyson Bomberry on a great individual effort 0:18 seconds later.
Anahalihs Doxtator added one more before Wyatt Barfoot stopped the Rivermen run on the power-play to make this a one goal game with 4:55 remaining.
Tyson Bomberry ended the North Stars hopes with a blast off a Ty Logan pass at 15:31 to increase the lead to two once again, as the Rivermen defense locked down for the victory.
Final score, Six Nations 11 Owen Sound 9.
