The Brooklin Merchants (1-0) traveled east to face the Ennismore James Gang (0-1) in the opening game now the 2026 Ontario Series Lacrosse season, at the Lakefield Arena in Lakefield, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Ethan Harwood in net for the Merchants facing Andrew Kidd in net for Ennismore.

Although Brooklin was missing a number of their regular players, they got to work immediately.  Led by Parker Pipher and Shane Halliwell, the Merchants were able to score five times in the first period.  The Merchants defense looked sharp as well not allowing a goal in the period.

The second period saw Ennismore get more comfortable.   The offense was getting more opportunities, but the Merchants were up to the task.  Midway through the period the flood gates opened with Brooklin scoring five times in 2:12.  Parker Pipher and Adam Perroni led the way with a pair each.  The James Gang did finally get on the board on a nice play from Bryce Dennis, but after forty minutes Brooklin held a commanding 11-1 lead.

The James Gang saved their best period for the third.  A fiesty group battled the Merchants for the majority of the period, scoring three times along the way.  Brooklin fought just as hard, stopping any run the James Gang put together led by the offensive prowess of Landon Sinfield.  Brooklin wins handily, 15-4.

To The Game:

The Merchants got on the board quickly when Shane Halliwell converted a Zeke Wills pass at 0:20 seconds, followed by an outside blast from Parker Pipher off an Adam Perroni feed at 3:19.

Brooklin continued to dominate play with Jared Norris finishing a Parker Pipher feed on the power-play at 10:22, followed by Pipher himself converting a Shane Halliwell feed 0:34 seconds later, also on the power-play.  Adam Perroni then got on the scoresheet for the Merchants with an outside blast off a Parker Ribbins pass at 14:12.

After one period, Brooklin 5 Ennismore 0.

Second Period:

After more than half a period of end to end scoreless action, Brooklin finally got back on the board.

Adam Perroni scored his second of the game off a Parker Pipher pass at 11:15, followed by Eddy Ferrede converting a Landon Sinfield pass 0:30 seconds later.

Perroni then scored his third of the game finishing a Parker Pipher feed at 11:59, followed by Landon Sinfield with a great individual effort scoring unassisted at 12:19.  Parker Ribbins then scored his second of the game in transition off a long lead pass from Ethan Harwood at 13:27.

The James Gang finally got on the board when Bryce Dennis scored from in close off a Caleb French pass at 16:03, but the Merchants stormed back with Parker Pipher blasting a sidearm snipe to the corner 0:24 seconds later.

After two periods, Brooklin 11 Ennismore 1.

Third Period:

Shane Halliwell opened the third period scoring blasting a Landon Sinfield pass at 2:46, but Colton McNutt answered back for Ennismore with a sidearm snipe off a Jack Longmore pass at 4:48.

Longmore himself got on the scoreboard with a low to low laser off a Kyle Morley-Whitten feed at 5:51, but back to back goals from Landon Sinfield silenced the James Gang's run.

Caleb French added one more for Ennismore at 11:25, but Shane Halliwell put an exclamation mark on the game scoring his third of the game with 1:03 remaining for the Merchants.
