The Owen Sound North Stars (4-9-1) visited the Brooklin Merchants (12-2) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening at the Luther Vipond Memorial Arena in Whitby, Ontario.

With the playoffs just a couple of weeks away, Brooklin was taking every advantage to get ready for a big run this year.  Owen Sound has looked better the last while and were looking to test the resolve of the Merchants.

The goaltending match-up had Craig Wende in net for the North Stars facing Deacan Knott in net for Brooklin.

A near flawless defensive performance by Brooklin had Owen Sound frustrated most of the evening.  Parker Pipher (6g,1a) and Christian Watts (3g,1a) led the offense for Brooklin en route to a convincing 10-3 victory.

To The Game:

Christian Watts opened the scoring for Brooklin with a nice play in transition unassisted at 1:32 to set the tone for the game.

Nathan Laycock evened the score for Owen Sound off a Keagan Mcilmoyle feed at 3:01, but a natural hat-trick from Parker Pipher would change the complexion of the game.  Pipher's first was a shorthanded marker off a Tyler Goodchild pass at 7:31, followed by a power-play tally off a Devon Pipher feed at 9:39.  Pipher again hit with a quick stick on the power-play converting a Zac Carrigan pass at 16:40.

After one period, Brooklin 4 Owen Sound 1.

Second Period:

Christian Watts opened the scoring for Brooklin converting a Devon Pipher pass at 1:28, followed by Parker Pipher with his fourth of the game converting a Watts feed on the power-play at 2:20.  Pipher added his fifth of the night in transition off an Adam Perroni pass at 3:13.

Owen Sound got back on the board with Jordan McMillen wiring a Jordan Caskenette pass home on the power-play at 9:21, but a shorthanded tally from Parker Pipher off a Devon Pipher pass had Brooklin up by seven.

After two periods, Brooklin 10 Owen Sound 3.

Third Period:

This period showcased how great the goaltending is in this league.  Both Craig Wende and Deacan Knott made huge saves all period not yielding a goal at either end.

Final score, Brooklin 10 Owen Sound 3.

The Three Stars:

1. Parker Pipher
2. Christian Watts
3. Devon Pipher
