Six Nations Fires On All Cylinders In Dominant Road Victory

The Six Nations Rivermen (6-1) traveled east to face the Belleville Kodiaks (1-5) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Saturday night, at the Wally Dever Arena in Belleville, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Cam Dunkerley in net for Six Nations facing Gavin Williamson for Belleville. 

The Six Nations Rivermen continued their strong season on Saturday night, using a dominant first period to cruise past the Belleville Kodiaks at Wally Dever Arena. Six Nations controlled the pace from the opening whistle, getting goals from Alex Kew, Mitch VanEvery, Braedon Saris, and Dalton Kane while outshooting Belleville 26-8 in the opening frame. VanEvery capped the period with a buzzer-beater, giving the Rivermen a commanding 5-0 lead after twenty minutes and putting the Kodiaks on their heels early.

Belleville showed some pushback in the second period with goals from Nolan Rutty and Jack Bucknell, but every Kodiaks surge was quickly answered by the Rivermen. Saris, Kane, and Tyler Brown helped Six Nations maintain control before David Peterkin and Anahalihs Doxtator added third-period markers to seal the victory. Backed by a strong performance from Cam Dunkerley and a relentless offensive attack led by Greg Elijah-Brown's four-assist night, the Rivermen rolled to an 11-3 victory while holding a decisive 73-42 advantage in shots on goal.

To The Game:

The Rivermen opened the scoring in transition with Alex Kew finishing a long lead pass from Cam Dunkerley at 6:22, followed by Mitch VanEvery with a sidearm snipe off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass at 9:22.  

Braedon Saris then added to the lead with a blast off a David Anderson pass at 10:59, followed by Dalton Kane going coast to coast in transition at 13:28. Mitch VanEvery's second of the period was a buzzer beater off an Anahalihs Doxtator feed for a five goal lead at the break.

After one period, Six Nations 5 Belleville 0.
Shots on goal favored Six Nations 26-8.

Second Period:

Owen Sound finally solved Cam Dunkerley when Nolan Rutty was able to score in transition off a Blake Maracle pass at 1:19, but Braedon Saris answered from in close off a Dalton Kane pass at 3:49 to stop the NorthStars momentum. 

Kane himself added a shorthanded marker off a Greg Elijah-Brown feed from in close at 11:25. 

Belleville replied with a pair of tallies.  The first was a sidearm snipe from Jack Bucknell off a Blake Maracle pass at 12:49, followed by Nolan Rutty with a great individual effort off a broken play at 13:49.

The Rivermen stopped the Kodiaks run with Tyler Brown finishing a Greg Elijah-Brown pass at 14:27.

After two periods, Six Nations 9 Owen Sound 3.
Shots on goal favored the Rivermen 26-20.

Third Period:

David Peterkin opened the third period scoring on a great individual effort unassisted at 3:58, followed by Anahalihs Doxtator blasting a low to low laser off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass at 18:42.

Final score, Six Nations 11 Owen Sound 3.
Shots on goal favored Six Nations 21-14, for a game total favoring the Rivermen 73-42.
