Rivermen End Regular Season With A Statement Victory

The Six Nations Rivermen (10-2) traveled to face the Collingwood Cruise (2-9) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at the Eddie Bush Arena in Collingwood, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Elan Henhawk in net for the Rivermen facing Dante Mancini in net for the Cruise.
The Six Nations Rivermen seized control early and never looked back, building a four-goal first-period lead before erupting for nine goals in the middle frame to cruise to a 17-10 victory over the Collingwood Cruise on Saturday afternoon. While Collingwood generated plenty of offense and actually outshot the Rivermen 61-59, Six Nations made the most of its opportunities, capitalizing on turnovers, transition, and clinical finishing to improve to 10-2 on the season.
David Anderson, David Peterkin, Braedon Saris, and Marshall Powless all had hat-tricks. Tyler Brown added a five-point effort with a goal and four helpers for the Rivermen. For the Cruise, Spencer Andrews had four goals, while Braydon Hickey also notched a hat trick in a strong offensive showing despite the loss.

To The Game:
Collingwood got on the board quickly with Spencer Andrews scoring off a Braydon Hickey pass at 29 seconds, but Braedon Saris replied with a blast off a David Anderson pass at 4:38.
Anderson then added an outside laser off a Tyler Brown pass at 5:34, followed by Ryan Andrews converting a turnover unassisted at 7:45.
Spencer Andrews stopped the Six Nations run with his second of the period off a Braydon Hickey feed at 12:02, but a bounced shot from David Peterkin off a Jacob Crans pass at 13:09 had the Rivermen up by two once again.
Marahall Powless added a sidearm snipe from distance off a Tyler Brown pass at 14:25, followed by David Anderson grabbing a loose ball making no mistake unassisted at 19:40.
After one period, Six Nations 6 Collingwood 2.
Shots on goal favored the Rivermen 21-19.
Second Period:
Braedon Saris opened the second period scoring increasing the Rivermen lead off a Marshall Powless feed at 48 seconds, but a power-play marker from Eddie Renaud at 2:36 kept the Cruise in the game.
Marshall Powless replied with back to back tallies. The first was off a great individual effort finishing a David Anderson pass at 3:51, followed by an outside blast off a Thunder Hill feed at 5:45.
Braydon Hickey stopped the Rivermen's mini run with a blast of his own off a Chase Forsythe pass at 8:45, but goals from David Peterkin and Braedon Saris just 1:24 apart put Six Nations in total control at 11:29.
Dante Mancini was replaced by Oliver Vanyo in net for Collingwood.
Hickey again scored for Collingwood off a Tye Burke pass at 12:07, but David Peterkin's third of the game, followed by a howitzer from Thunder Hill off a Rodd Squire pass had Six Nations up by eight at 14:25.
Graham Bergsma showed the Cruise still had fight with a sidearm snipe off a Chase Forsythe pass at 15:37, but Tyler Brown and Jackson Webster scored 20 seconds apart increasing the Rivermen lead.
Collingwood ended the period with a flurry. Spencer Andrews found the back of the net off an Evan Gray pass at 17:36, followed by Braydon Hickey with his third of the game 22 seconds later.
After two periods, Six Nations 15 Collingwood 8.
Shots on goal favored the Cruise 23-16
Third Period:
David Anderson opened the third period scoring with a high to high laser off a David Peterkin pass at 33 seconds, followed by Thunder Hill with a low to high blast from in close off a Ryan Andrews pass at 11:44.
Spencer Andrews continued his big day for Collingwood with his fourth of the day off a Chris Harland feed at 15:55, followed by Scott Edwards with a quick stick off a Chase Forsythe pass 19:38.
Final score, Six Nations 17 Collingwood 10.
Shots on goal favored tje Rivermen 22-19, for a game total of 61-59 in favor of the Cruise.
