Durston The Hero With Late Goal For Rivermen

The Six Nations Rivermen (8-1) traveled east to face the Ennismore James Gang (0-9) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening at the Robert E. Young Recreational Complex. 

Six Nations has been rolling all season, with a savvy, mature lineup.  Ennismore is much younger, but have shown major growth recently, both offensively and defensively. 

The goaltending match-up had Elan Henhawk in net for the Rivermen facing Andrew Kidd in net for the James Gang. 

Ennismore put together their best showing of the season for 40 minutes, getting out in front 9-5.  However, the Rivermen put together a strong third period, scoring five unanswered goals to take the lead 10-9 at 11:40.  The James Gang kept fighting with Holden Lowes tying the game shorthanded at 16:15.  With just 0:09 seconds left, Jordan Durston scored an unassisted goal on the power-play for the Six Nations 11-10 victory. 

To The Game:

Jordan Goddard opened the scoring off a Wes Whitlow pass at 1:47, but Ennismore answered with Taylor Dooley scoring on the power-play off a Mason Tardiff pass at 5:30.  The James Gang then took the lead when Adam Churchill blasted a Curtis Martin pass from in close at 6:00.

Greg Elijah-Brown tied the game for the Rivermen off a Ross Hill pass at 7:02, but two power-play goals in the last 0:10 seconds of the period from Dooley and Adam Thistlethwaite had Ennismore up at the intermission. 

After one period, Ennismore 4 Six Nations 2.

Second Period:

Mason Tardiff increased the James Gang lead converting a Taylor Dooley pass at 1:42 on the power-play, but Jordan Durston got Six Nations back on track finishing a Jordan Goddard feed at 2:36.

Adam Thistlethwaite got his second of the game off a Curtis Martin pass at 3:07, but Greg Elijah-Brown answered back for the Rivermen converting a Jordan Durston pass at 7:25.

The James Gang continued to take advantage of undisciplined Six Nations play converting two more power-play goals.  Carter Page scored unassisted at 9:28, followed by Adam Churchill converting a "thread the needle" pass from Carter Page at 13:59.

Danton Miller brought Six Nations within three goals with a power-play marker at 15:42, but Taylor Dooley's third of the night had the James Gang in control at the break.

After two periods, Ennismore 9 Six Nations 5.

Third Period:

The Rivermen came out with a different swagger in the third period. 

Jordan Durston opened the scoring at 0:24 seconds to get the Rivermen rolling.  Wake:Riat Bowhunter then added a pair of goals to bring Six Nations closer.  His first was a blast from in front off a Durston feed at 6:41, followed by converting a Ross Hill pass at 7:11.

Greg Elijah-Brown tied the game off a Wes Whitlow pass at 8:43, followed by Bowhunter's third of the period on the power-play, giving the Rivermen their first lead of the game at 11:40.

Holden Lowes tied the game for Ennismore while shorthanded off an Adam Thistlethwaite pass at 16:15, but with just 0:09 seconds left Jordan Durston got the game winner unassisted from in front.

Final score, Six Nations 11 Ennismore 10.
