The Brooklin Merchants (10-1) hosted the Hamilton Bengals (5-5-1) at the Luther Vipond Memorial Arena Saturday evening.

The last time these teams met Brooklin won handily 13-8 with big nights from Parker Pipher (2g,2a), Christian Watts (2g,3a), Darren Elliott (2g,1a) and Eddie Renaud (2g,2a).  Shane Halliwell (4g,2a) had a big game for the Bengals.

The goaltending match-up had Dylan Sprentz in net for Hamilton facing Lucas Coote in net for Brooklin.

A game that went back and forth saw Brooklin jump out to 5-1 lead in the first period.  Up 7-3 after two periods, the Merchants looked to be cruising for another victory.

The third period saw Hamilton go on fire.  A five goal period led by two from Shane Halliwell had the Bengals tied late in the game.  Devon Pipher wad the hero for Brooklin, scoring with just 0:32 seconds left in regulation to give the Merchants the win.

Second Period:

Tyson Allison opened the scoring for the Bengals, but goals from Devon Pipher on the power-play off a Zac Carrigan feed at 13:04, and Trent Boyd firing an Adam Perroni pass to the top corner at 15:32 had the Merchants up by four at the break.

After two periods, Brooklin 7 Hamilton 3.

Third Period:

Hamilton got rolling in the third.  Mitch Bolduc fired a Cooper Day-Allison pass in at 0:59 seconds, followed by Tyson Allison converting a Shane Halliwell feed at 2:50, to make this a close game.

Brooklin gave themselves a little breathing room with Eddie Renaud converting a Cody Hamley pass at 3:05 on the power-play, but the Bengals stormed back with three of their own to tie the game.

Neil McInroy went low to low at 5:44, followed by a pair from Shane Halliwell.   The first was a blast from the outside off a Vern Hill pass at 12:14, followed by a sidearm snipe off a Luke Dawick pass at 17:46

With the goalie on the bench, and an extra attacker on the floor, Devon Pipher finished an Adam Perroni pass at 19:28 for the game winner.
