Brooklin Continues Their Winning Ways

The Brooklin Merchants (7-1) visited the Owen Sound North Stars (2-4) Sunday evening at the Durham Community Centre in Owen Sound.

The Merchants were coming off a heart stopping victory on Friday night against the Clearview Crushers and were hoping to keep the momentum going.  The Owen Sound North Stars dropped a close game to the Six Nations Rivermen the previous evening and were looking to rebound against the Merchants.

The goaltending match-up had Ethan Woods in net for Owen Sound facing Deacan Knott in net for Brooklin. 

The Brooklin Merchants continued their winning ways controlling the majority of the game.  Zac Carrigan (2g,1a) and Trent Boyd (2g,1a) led the way for the Merchants offense.  Deacan Knott had another strong performance stopping 32 of 36 shots.  Owen Sound had a strong first period but had trouble keeping up with the more experienced Merchants team the rest of the way.  Brooklin comes away with the 11-4 victory. 

To The Game:

The Brooklin Merchants got on the board early with Jacob Hickey scoring in transition at 0:50 seconds, but was answered by Brad Mozzacatto and Brody Caskenette for a 2-1 North Stars lead at 5:29.

Trent Boyd tied the game off a Grant Breyo feed at 9:44, followed by Jacob Hickey's second of the game off a Zac Carrigan feed at 10:06.  
Kellen Pulera extended the Merchants lead, but North Star goals from Andy Campbell and Jordan McMillen had the game tied at the intermission. 

After one period, Owen Sound 4 Brooklin 4.

Second Period:

Brooklin took over the game in the second period.   

Tyler Goodchild converted a Trent Boyd pass at 5:45, followed by Zac Carrigan firing a Darren Elliott pass at 12:01.  Trent Boyd scored his second of the game off an Eddie Renaud pass at 13:48, followed by a rope from Parker Pipher off a Darren Elliott pass at 16:26.

After two periods, Brooklin 8 Owen Sound 4.

Third Period:

The barrage continued in the third.  Devon Pipher finished a Darren Elliott pass at 0:49 seconds, followed by Adam Perroni in transition shorthanded off a Deacan Knott long lead pass at 8:31.  Zac Carrigan scored his second of the game on the power-play with a low to low shot off a Parker Pipher pass at 11:06.

Final score, Brooklin 11 Owen Sound 4

Shots on goal were 40-36 in favor of the Merchants
