Belanger With The Shutout As Rivermen Sail Past The Cruise
The Six Nations Rivermen (4-2) faced the Collingwood Cruise (0-5) in Ontario Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening at the Eddie Bush Arena in Collingwood, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Tye Belanger in net for the Rivermen facing Jackson Hainer in net for the Cruise.
The Rivermen took control of this game from the very start and never relinquished it. Led by Josh Ricci (2g,2a), Danton Miller (2g,0a), and Niko Spewock (2g,2a), the Rivermen pressured the Cruise all evening. Six Nations comes away with an impressive 12-0 victory over Collingwood.
Elan Henhawk was perfect in net stopping all 32 shots he faced on the evening. For the Cruise, Jackson Hainer also was strong in net making 48 saves in the loss.
To The Game:
Six Nations got on the board first when Anahalihs Doxtator scored to the far corner off a Thunder Hill pass at 7:07, followed by Josh Ricci with a great individual effort scoring unassisted at 9:15.
Niko Spewock increased the Rivermen lead with a pair of goals. The first was a shot from in close off a Josh Ricci feed at 12:09, followed by a sidearm snipe converting a Thunder Hill pass shorthanded at 13:51.
After one period, Six Nations 4 Collingwood 0.
Second Period:
The Rivermen continued the barrage when Ty Logan converted a Rodd Squire feed to the corner at 4:30, followed by Oakley Thomas in transition off a long lead pass from Tye Belanger at 7:10.
Danton Miller added to the Six Nations total with a sidearm snipe off a Niko Spewock pass at 16:33.
After two, Six Nations 7 Collingwood 0.
Third Period:
Danton Miller got the scoring started in the third period with an outside blast off a Thunder Hill pass at 7:36, followed by Josh Ricci converting a Niko Spewock pass at 10:30 for a 9-0 Rivermen lead.
Damon Doxtator added to the lead with a high to high laser off an Anahalihs Doxtator pass at 12:24, followed by Kazimier Nazieski in transition off a Josh Ricci feed at 14:36. Rodd Squire added another in transition off a Nazieski pass at 15:39.
Final score, Six Nations 12 Collingwood 0.
Shots on goal favored the Rivermen 60-32.
