Another Strong Third Period Sends Six Nations To Victory

The Owen Sound North Stars (2-6-1) headed to face the Six Nations Rivermen (9-1) on Saturday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario.
The teams had met once this year in a penalty filled game. Six Nations came away with the 10-8 win in that one.
Jordan Caskenette (11g,15a), Jake McNabb (8g,11a) and Gordie Power (10g,8a) have led the way for the North Stars. Wes Whitlow (14g,19a), Jordan Durston (11g,22a) and Jordan Goddard (9g,22a) have been the leaders for the Rivermen.
The goaltending match-up had Tanner Brown in net for Owen Sound facing Dusty Hill in net for the Rivermen.
The North Stars hung on for two periods led by Gordie Power and Brody Caskenette, only down 6-4 to the Rivermen. Jordan Durston led the way with a pair of goals for Six Nations.
The third period had Six Nations score seven, led by a Sam LeClair hat-trick. Owen Sound put up a fight, but the Rivermen were just too strong en route to a 13-7 victory.
To The Game:
Six Nations got on the board first when Jordan Durston scored shorthanded off a Danton Miller pass at 1:55, followed by Miller himself converting a Zach Herrewyers pass at 5:35. Durston added another goal with a blast from a Ross Hill feed at 11:30.
Gordie Power got Owen Sound on the board wiring a Brody Caskenette pass on the power-play at 17:23.
After one period, Six Nations 3 Owen Sound 1.
Second Period:
Kaden Brennan increased the Rivermen lead off a Marcus Elvin pass shorthanded at 0:22 seconds, but a three goal run from Owen Sound knotted the game 4-4. Brody Caskenette scored the first two. His first was off a Jordan Caskenette pass at 8:00, followed by a high to high shot that found the corner off a Logan Swanton pass at 9:39. The tying goal came from Gordie Power converting a Wyatt Barfoot pass at 11:49 on the power-play.
Late goals from Zane Delpe and Ross Hill had Six Nations up by a pair at the intermission.
After two periods, Six Nations 6 Owen Sound 4.
Third Period:
The Rivermen came out in the third on a mission. Zach Herrewyers opened the scoring off a Danton Miller pass at 0:49 seconds, followed by Sam LeClair with a blast off a Greg Elijah-Brown pass at 3:11. LeClair scored his second of the period 1:06 later with a sidearm shot off a Zane Delpe feed.
Brody Caskenette got one back for the North Stars, but two more from the Rivermen was putting this game out of reach. Shorthanded goals by Danton Miller and Ross Hill had Six Nations up 11-5.
Jordan Caskenette scored for Owen Sound off a Mitch Wagner pass at 11:23 on the power-play, but Sam LeClair's third of the period answered back for the Rivermen 0:31 seconds later.
Wyatt Barfoot added one more for the North Stars on the power-play, but a shorthanded goal from Kaden Brennan kept the Six Nations lead at six.
Final score, Six Nations 13 Owen Sound 7.
